Who Am I

Why I Do What I Do

Welcome:

Hi there, and welcome to my blog!

I'm Rachel, and my passion for fitness and nutrition began when I joined the military at the age of 17. This path introduced me to the discipline and benefits of a fit life early on. However, my real journey into health and wellness took a profound turn when I was at work walking up a flight of stairs when a persistent high heart rate and heavy panting became a cause for concern and dropped me on my a$$.

Lethargy, heavy periods, and brain fog had been going on for months, and worsening every day.

Realizing that I should have been able to walk a flight of stairs without fainting, I made the decision to finally see the doctor.

At my appointment, the doctor informed me I was a walking dead woman and closely in dire need of a blood transfusion due to low iron/blood count. The solution he offered? A hysterectomy! Of a perfectly healthy uterus!  😲

"You're in perimenopause" and he went on to say, "you're nearly 50 and you're not planning to have anymore children, you don't need your uterus."

I was floored.

I was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

But, here’s what I did instead...

I read everything I could get my hands on about that "transition " all women experience. I practiced what I read: lifestyle change, stress reduction, improved nutrition, holistic health and wellness, exercise, I did it all.

 And this is what happened...

Increased energy, regular periods, better clarity, and back to running 5 miles/day. All with my uterus in tact.

You know what else happened? I became a Certified Health Coach with a passion to help women navigate their menopause symptoms. I help them with evidenced based information so that they are empowered to exercise their own autonomy on how THEY want to feel. And they end up feeling more vital, vibrant and vivacious than before!

Women's healthcare is often overlooked, and i am here to change that. I want to educate, enlighten, and empower you to advocate for your own health. This blog is a space for community, sisterhood, and integrity. Together, we can inspire each other to take charge of our health and well-being.

With that said, this is why you should keep reading...
